BOX SCORE
MANCHESTER, N.H. -
A goal by Paulson Edum (Calabar, Nigeria) with
just under nine minutes left in the first half proved to be all the
offense Southern New Hampshire University would need as it posted a
1-0 victory over C.W. Post in men's soccer Thursday evening at
Larkin Field. The game marked the season opener for both
schools.
After just missing on several prime
opportunities early in the contest, the Penmen got on the board at
the 36:12 mark. Edum, to the right of Pioneer keeper Ayrton
Haddad, took a feed off the foot of Adrian
Schippers (Ashby, MA) and headed it home for the game's
lone goal. Michael Adam (Ludlow, MA) also
assisted on the tally.
Haddad kept C.W. Post in the game,
making several saves of SNHU attempts from close range. He
finished with 12 saves as the Penmen outshot their guests 26-2 on
the evening. Senior Sean Lambert (Rehoboth,
MA) was not forced to make a save en route to his third career
shutout for Southern New Hampshire.
The win marked the first career
victory for first-year head coach Marc Hubbard.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday when it hosts Caldwell College in a 1:00 game at
Larkin Field.
