MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern New Hampshire University
men's soccer team posted its third straight shutout and fifth in
six games Saturday, blanking The College of Saint Rose 2-0 in
Northeast-10 action at Larkin Field. The Penmen improved to
5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Golden Knights
are now 1-4 and 0-2 in the league.
Southern New Hampshire scored the
lone goal of the first half just 3:35 into the contest.
Adrian Schippers (Ashby, MA) scored on a feed from
Gabe Mercier (Middleboro, MA). The Penmen
had a chance to make it 2-0 with just under five minutes to go in
the first frame when they were awarded a penalty kick, but Kevin
Woods' (Alyth, Scotland) attempt was off the mark.
The Penmen would score again with
just over 14 minutes remaining in the contest. Saint Rose
keeper Patrik Ohlsson (Sodertalje, Sweden) came
out to play a shot by Ethan Lapierre (Manchester,
NH). Lapierre then passed over to Daniel
Hernandez (Salem, NH), who scored into the open net.
Robert Lucas (Hooksett, NH) also assisted on the
goal.

(Rehoboth, MA) registered his third shutout of the season by making
three saves as the Penmen outshot the Golden Knights 27-3.
Ohlsson made eight saves for Saint Rose.
SNHU returns to action Tuesday when
it travels to Northeast-10 newcomer New Haven for a 4:00 contest.
