Men's Soccer Shuts Out Saint Rose 2-0

BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team posted its third straight shutout and fifth in six games Saturday, blanking The College of Saint Rose 2-0 in Northeast-10 action at Larkin Field.  The Penmen improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Golden Knights are now 1-4 and 0-2 in the league.

Southern New Hampshire scored the lone goal of the first half just 3:35 into the contest.  Adrian Schippers (Ashby, MA) scored on a feed from Gabe Mercier (Middleboro, MA).  The Penmen had a chance to make it 2-0 with just under five minutes to go in the first frame when they were awarded a penalty kick, but Kevin Woods' (Alyth, Scotland) attempt was off the mark.

The Penmen would score again with just over 14 minutes remaining in the contest.  Saint Rose keeper Patrik Ohlsson (Sodertalje, Sweden) came out to play a shot by Ethan Lapierre (Manchester, NH).  Lapierre then passed over to Daniel Hernandez (Salem, NH), who scored into the open net.  Robert Lucas (Hooksett, NH) also assisted on the goal.

Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, MA) registered his third shutout of the season by making three saves as the Penmen outshot the Golden Knights 27-3.  Ohlsson made eight saves for Saint Rose.

SNHU returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Northeast-10 newcomer New Haven for a 4:00 contest.
