EASTON, Mass. - Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, MA) posted his
fifth shutout of the season as seventh-ranked Southern New
Hampshire University posted a 2-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory
over Stonehill College Wednesday afternoon. The Penmen, who
won their sixth straight game, improved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in
the Northeast-10, while the Skyhawks are now 2-3-1 and 1-3 in the
league.
SNHU's six-game win streak is its'
longest since winning 12 in a row during the 2002 season.
The Penmen got on the board just
over 10 minutes into the match when Jamie
Phillips (Hampton, NH) scored an unassisted
tally. Southern New Hampshire would maintain a 1-0 lead into
halftime, then made it 2-0 at the 58:22 mark when Adrian
Schippers (Ashby, MA) scored his team-leading sixth goal
of the season on an assist from Phillips.
Lambert made one save en route to
the shutout. Stonehill keeper Brandon McFarlane turned aside
five Penmen shots as the guests outshot the Skyhawks 10-7.
Southern New Hampshire returns home
on Saturday, September 27 when it hosts American International
College at 1:00 pm.
