No. 7 Men's Soccer Tops AIC For Seventh in a Row

BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Danny Hernandez (Salem, NH) totaled a goal and an assist as No.7 Southern New Hampshire University posted a 3-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over American International College at Larkin Field on Saturday afternoon.  The Penmen, who won their seventh in a row, improved to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in NE-10 play, while the Yellow Jackets are now 2-6-2 and 0-3-2 in the league.

SNHU is on its longest winning streak since winning 12 in a row in 2002.  The Penmen are now unbeaten in their last 10 games at home at Larkin Field (9-0-1) dating back to last season.

After a scoreless first half, SNHU got on the board with just over 21 minutes remaining in the second half.  Matt Delaney (Wallasey, England) sent a crossing pass in front of the AIC goal that glanced off a Yellow Jacket defender and into the goal.  Delaney was credited with the goal on the play.

The Penmen would make it 2-0 at the 75:47 mark.  Ransford Shand (Brooklyn, NY) delivered a long pass up to Hernandez, who headed it home for the goal.  Jayme Kapinos (Ludlow, MA) also assisted on the tally.  Ethan Lapierre (Manchester, NH) made it 3-0 just past the 80 minute mark when AIC keeper Joe Ferrentino (East Longmeadow, MA) came out to play Hernandez, who flicked it over to Lapierre.  Lapierre then fired into the open net for his first collegiate goal.

Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, MA) made one save in goal for the Penmen over the first 82:40 before giving way to Joey Kapinos (Ludlow, MA) who was not forced to make a save over the final 7:20.  Ferrentino made three saves for American International.  Southern New Hampshire outshot AIC 18-4, including 10-0 in the second half.

SNHU returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when it travels to Bentley College for a 3:30 contest.
