BOX SCORE
WALTHAM, Mass. - Fourth-ranked Southern New Hampshire
University and Bentley College played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie
in Northeast-10 men's soccer Tuesday afternoon. The Penmen,
who saw their seven-game win streak snapped but are still unbeaten
in eight straight (7-0-1) are now 9-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the
NE-10, while the Falcons are 4-5-1 and 1-4-1 in the league.
After a scoreless first half, the
Penmen got on the board just past the 55 minute mark. A shot
attempt by Paulson Edum (Calabar, Nigeria) was
stopped by Bentley keeper Michael Nikiforov, but Adrian
Schippers (Ashby, MA) headed home the rebound for his
team-leading seventh goal on the season. Edum was credited
with an assist.
The Falcons would tie the game
nearly five minutes later when they were awarded a penalty kick
after a SNHU foul in the penalty area. Harris Smirko would
convert the penalty kick, just the third goal the Penmen have
allowed all season.
Sean Lambert
(Rehoboth, MA) made four saves for Southern New Hampshire, which
outshot Bentley 10-9. Nikiforov would turn aside six shots
for the Falcons.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action on Saturday when it travels to Southern Connecticut State
University for a 7:00 contest.
