No. 5 Men's Soccer Edges Saint Michael's

BOX SCORE

COLCHESTER, Vt. - A goal by senior Adrian Schippers (Ashby, Mass.) just past the 60-minute mark lifted fifth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University to a 1-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Saint Michael's College at Duffy Field.  The Penmen, who have now won six in a row and are unbeaten in their last 11 games (10-0-1), improved to 11-1-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights are 5-4-3 and 1-4-3 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, Schippers scored at the 60:09 mark when he took a pass from Ethan Lapierre (Manchester, N.H.) and netted his team-leading ninth goal of the season.   Michael Adam (Ludlow, Mass.) also assisted on the goal. It also marks Schippers' sixth game-winner of 2009.

SNHU goalkeeper Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, Mass.) made one save en route to his seventh shutout of the season and 20th of his career.  He moved into sole possession of fourth place on SNHU's career shutout list and sits just one shutout shy of second place.  Saint Michael's keeper Jason Burnett turned aside six shots as the Penmen outshot the Purple Knights 16-5, including an 11-1 advantage in the first half.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts crosstown rival Saint Anselm College in a 7:00 contest at Larkin Field.
