BRIDGEPORT, Conn.
- Mike DiBartolomeo scored with 1:11 remaining in the first
overtime session to lift the University of Bridgeport men's soccer
team to a 1-0 win over eighth-ranked Southern New Hampshire
University at Knights Field Wednesday afternoon. The Purple
Knights improved to 10-3-3 overall, while the Penmen are now 13-3-2
on the year.
DiBartolomeo would score his second
goal of the season at the 98:49 mark when he fired a long shot from
outside the top of the box that snuck inside the top right corner.
Peter Barrows made seven saves for
Bridgeport in goal en route to the shutout, while Sean
Lambert (Rehoboth, Mass.) made five saves for the
Penmen. The Purple Knights outshot the Penmen 17-14,
including a 5-1 advantage in overtime.
As the top seed in the Northeast-10
Tournament, Southern New Hampshire will host eighth-seeded Saint
Anselm College in a quarterfinal game at Larkin Field Sunday
afternoon at 1:00. The Penmen and Hawks battled to a 1-1 draw
on the SNHU campus two weeks ago.
