MANCHESTER, N.H. - The 11th-ranked
Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team posted a 2-0
win over C.W. Post at Larkin Field Thursday night. The game
marked the season opener for both schools.
The Penmen would get on the board
in the 11th minute on a second effort by Ethan
Lapierre (Manchester, N.H.). Lapierre took a pass 10
yards out from Danny Hernandez (Salem, N.H.), and
after his initial shot was blocked by a Pioneer defender, collected
the rebound and put it inside the right post. Southern New
Hampshire would maintain its 1-0 lead until the 73rd
minute, when Hernandez scored on a feed from Cornelius
Ilea (Manchester, N.H.).
Sean Lambert
(Rehoboth, Mass.) made four saves in goal to earn the shutout for
Southern New Hampshire, the 14th of his collegiate
career. C.W. Post keeper Shane Flanagan turned aside five
shots in goal for the guests, who were outshot 15-6.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
