Volleyball Takes Two, Improves to 6-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team took both ends of a tri-match with Felician College and Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon, defeating the Golden Falcons 3-0 and the Purple Knights 3-1.  The Penmen improved to 6-0 on the season, while Felician is now 2-7 and Saint Michael's is 4-4 on the campaign.

SNHU defeated Felician 25-17, 25-17, 25-11 and topped Saint Michael's 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23.  The Penmen rallied from a 22-16 deficit in the fourth set against the Purple Knights to close out the game.

Against Felician, Stephanie Dluginski (Floral Park, N.Y.) led the Penmen with nine kills while also adding a pair of blocks.  Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) hit .500 for the game and totaled seven kills and three blocks (two solo), while Allison Murphy (Montague, Mass.) also recorded seven kills.  Lauren Lorenz (Frankfort, Ill.) finished with 24 assists while Ashley Dingle (Malone, N.Y.) and Caitlin Wilson (Milton, N.H.) each finished with seven digs.

Jenna Matesic led Felician with seven kills, while Nicole Degenhardt handed out 14 assists.  The Penmen hit .303 as a team while holding the Golden Falcons to a -.034 hitting percentage.

Dluginski led the Penmen with 13 kills and five blocks (three solo) in the win, while Kim Rowe (Exeter, N.H.) finished with 12 kills.  Coffey totaled nine kills and five blocks (three solo) while hitting .600.  Lorenz registered 27 assists, seven kills and 10 digs, while Erica Solomon (East Islip, N.Y.) had a team-high 11 digs.  Wilson contributed nine digs in the win.

Tracy Peterka led Saint Michael's with 14 kills while Lindsey Frazier (12) and Katie Walsh (11) also reached double figures.  Maggie Zuhlke handed out 32 assists, while Kelly Garthwait notched 22 digs for the Purple Knights.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday night when it opens Northeast-10 play at home against Saint Anselm in a 7:30 game.
