Volleyball Suffers First Setback of Season

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Merrimack College got 13 kills apiece from Molly Cindric and Megan Murphy to post a 3-1 Northeast-10 volleyball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the Volpe Center Saturday afternoon.  The Warriors improved to 12-3 and 2-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Penmen suffered their first loss of the season and are now 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.

The set scores were 25-9, 25-14, 18-25, 25-13.

Shaunda Forcier also added 10 kills for the Warriors, who got 36 assists from Elyse Lorenz.  Alyssa Pickert had 21 digs defensively for Merrimack, while Natalee Yeazle notched 12 digs.

Seniors Kim Rowe (Exeter, N.H.) and Allison Murphy (Montague, Mass.) led the Penmen with six kills apiece.  Rowe totaled four block assists while Murphy recorded nine digs.  Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) notched five kills and seven blocks (three solo), while Stephanie Dluginski (Floral Park, N.Y.) had four block assists and five total blocks. 

Freshman Caitlin Wilson (Milton, N.H.) registered 12 digs for SNHU, while classmate Lauren Lorenz (Frankfort, Ill.) handed out 13 assists.  Elyse and Lauren Lorenz are sisters.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday night when it travels to Franklin Pierce University for a 7:00 match.
