No. 20 Men's Soccer Pushes Past Saint Thomas Aquinas 3-1

BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Adrian Schippers (Ashby, Mass.) totaled two goals and an assist in his 2009 debut as No. 20 Southern New Hampshire University scored three times in the second half to post a 3-1 men's soccer victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas College Thursday night at Larkin Field.  The Penmen improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Spartans are 0-2 on the season.

SNHU trailed 1-0 at halftime, but the Penmen would tie the game just 37 seconds into the second half.  Schippers took a pass from Michael Adam (Ludlow, Mass.) and fired a shot that deflected off the hand of STAC keeper Nicholas Croce.  Schippers would give the Penmen the lead in the 81st minute when he headed home a rebound after his initial shot was stopped by Croce.  Kevin Woods (Alyth, Scotland) would add an insurance goal for Southern New Hampshire 30 seconds later when he converted a feed from Danny Hernandez (Salem, N.H.).  Schippers also assisted on the goal.

Saint Thomas Aquinas scored their lone goal in the 22nd minute when Ronald Demshick fired a ground ball past SNHU keeper Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, Mass.) following a scramble in front of the net.  Jesse Trajkovski assisted on the goal.

Lambert finished with a pair of saves for Southern New Hampshire as the Penmen outshot the Spartans 31-6.  Croce turned aside nine shots for Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday when it hosts No. 9 Wilmington in a 1:00 contest at Larkin Field.
