SCORE
MANCHESTER, N.H. - A goal by freshman
Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) 4:15 before
halftime would be all the offense No. 20 Southern New Hampshire
University would need as it edged No. 9 Wilmington University 1-0
in men's soccer Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field. The
Penmen won their second straight to improve to 3-1 on the season,
while the Wildcats fell to 3-1 overall.
Tsonis would score after he won a
50-50 ball from a Wilmington defender after a long downfield
pass. He would evade a slide tackle from another defender,
then slide a ground ball past Wilmington keeper Ethan Kavanagh from
eight yards out when Kavanagh came out to play the ball. It
marked Tsonis' first collegiate goal.
Sean Lambert
(Rehoboth, Mass.) made five saves for Southern New Hampshire as he
registered his second shutout of the season. Kavanagh made
five saves for Wilmington as the Penmen outshot the Wildcats 16-9.
Southern New Hampshire opens
Northeast-10 play on Wednesday night when it hosts Franklin Pierce
University for a 7:00 game at Larkin Field.
