SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Le Moyne College scored twice in the final 13 minutes of the first half en route to a 3-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins improved to 9-5-3 overall and 8-3-2 in the NE-10, while the Penmen, who are ranked No. 10 nationally, are now 11-3-3 and 7-3-3 in league play.
Saturday's result sets up a rematch between the Penmen and Dolphins in the first round of the Northeast-10 men's soccer tournament that kicks off Tuesday. With the win Le Moyne grabbed the No. 4 seed and will host the fifth-seeded Penmen in a 4:00 contest.
Angelo Reina got the Dolphins on the board in the 33rd minute with the first of his two goals when he knocked home a crossing pass from Justin Fredsell that had been punched out by SNHU keeper Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.). Bryce Martin gave the hosts a 2-0 lead 2:37 before intermission with a blast from the top of the box, while Reina made it 3-0 in the 77th minute when he put home a rebound of his initial shot from 12 yards out.
Matthew Silva made three saves for Le Moyne en route to the shutout, while Mayo turned aside one shot. The Penmen outshot the Dolphins 21-12.
