MANCHESTER, N.H.
– Fourth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University
and UMass Lowell battled to a 0-0, double-overtime draw in
Northeast-10 men's soccer Wednesday evening at Larkin
Field. With the tie, the Penmen are now 6-0-1 and 3-0-1 in
the NE-10, while the River Hawks are 1-4-1 and 0-2-1 in the
league.
Southern New Hampshire carried the
bulk of the play, outshooting UMass Lowell 22-8, including 7-2 in
the two overtime periods. The Penmen also generated a 7-1
corner kick advantage.
Joey Kapinos
(Ludlow, Mass.) played the first 90 minutes in goal and stopped one
shot. Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) played both
overtime periods in goal for the Penmen and was not forced to make
a save. Chris Maierle turned aside eight shots for the River
Hawks.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday when it travels to No. 10 Dowling in a 1:00
non-conference contest.
