MANCHESTER, N.H. – Eighth-ranked Southern New
Hampshire University got goals from three different players as it
posted a 3-1 win over C.W. Post in non-conference men's soccer
Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field. The Penmen improve to 2-0
on the season while the Pioneers, who were picked to finish first
in the East Coast Conference, are now 0-2.
Southern New Hampshire got on the
board 7:37 into the contest. Mike
Adam (Ludlow, Mass.) played a through ball to
Danny
Hernandez (Salem, N.H.) who fired the ball past
Pioneer keeper Ed Shone. The guests would tie the score just
under four minutes later, as William Lindberg lifted a shot from
the top of the box into the upper left corner of the goal.
The Penmen would register the
game-winning goal 6:33 before halftime. An initial shot
attempt by Paul D'Angelo
(Gloucester, Mass.) was blocked by a C.W. Post defender, but
Jordan
Branco (Norton, Mass.) collected the rebound and fired
it home. Southern New Hampshire added an insurance goal in
the 68th minute when Paulson Edum
(Calabar, Nigeria) chipped a ball over the keeper to make it
3-1. Adam recorded his second assist of the afternoon on the
play.
Jon Mayo
(Merrimack, N.H.) went the distance in goal for Southern New
Hampshire and turned aside five shots, while Shone registered a
pair of saves. Both teams recorded 13 shots on the
afternoon.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Wednesday, when it entertains Bridgeport in a 4:00 contest
at Larkin Field.
