WORCESTER, Mass.—The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to the Greyhounds of Assumption College on Tuesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 4-10 overall and 2-5 in league play, while the Greyhounds improve to 5-15 and 1-8 in NE-10 action.
Game scores were 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 26-28, and 15-11.
Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) posted a match-high 20 kills in the loss for the Penmen and also added 20 digs. Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) contributed 15 kills and a match-high 29 digs. Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) aided the Penmen's defensive effort with five blocks, while Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) dished out a career-high 52 assists on the offensive end.
Lauren Ostafin led Assumption with 17 kills and 20 digs on the evening. Ryan Merle added 12 kills, while Mary Johnston contributed 10. Kristin Flatekval dished out 41 assists for the Greyhounds, while Jess Reimers also added 20 digs. Sam Lupinski posted a game-high six blocks.
The Penmen wrapped up the five-game match with a hitting percentage of .141. The Greyhounds hit at .120 on the evening.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Friday when it travels to the University of New Haven for a 7:00 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
