MANCHESTER, N.H.—The visiting Dolphins of Le Moyne College posted a 3-2 Northeast-10 Conference win over the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 4-13 overall and 2-8 in NE-10 play, while the win boosts the Dolphins to 12-10 overall and 2-7 in league play.
After dropping the first two games by scores of 25-17 and 25-15, the Penmen came back to win the third and fourth games by scores of 28-26 and 25-22. In the fifth game, the Penmen took a quick 7-3 lead, but the Dolphins held on the prevail 15-13.
Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) led Southern New Hampshire offensively with 16 kills while also added 17 digs. Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) tallied 13 kills and four blocks, while Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) added 12 kills and 11 digs. Peyton Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) contributed a team-high 18 digs. Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) dished out 33 assists for the Penmen.
Le Moyne was led by Morgan McDermott, who posted a match-high 23 kills and also added four blocks. Danielle Fetsch added 10 kills and 10 digs. Allison Hebel and Bethany Fabian each contributed a match-high 23 digs. In addition, Hebel added six service aces.
Le Moyne posted an overall hitting percentage of .198 through five games while holding the Penmen to a combined .085.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 action at 7:00 p.m. in the SNHU Fieldhouse.
