No. 14 Men's Soccer Extends Win Streak to 10, Blanks New Haven

Box Score

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – No. 14 Southern New Hampshire University registered a goal in each half as it blanked the University of New Haven 2-0 in Northeast-10 men's soccer Sunday afternoon at Kayo Field.  The Penmen extended their win streak to 10 games and are now 13-2 overall and 10-2 in the NE-10, while the Chargers saw a five-game unbeaten streak snapped and are now 4-8-3 and 3-7-1 in the league.

SNHU's 10 match winning streak is currently the second longest in NCAA Division II men's soccer, behind only the 11 match win streak of Anderson (S.C.).  It is also the longest win streak for the Penmen since 2002, when Southern New Hampshire won 11 in a row.

Southern New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead at the 12:44 mark when Mohamed Toufik (Grande Synthe, France) scored his fourth goal of the season on a free kick.  The Penmen added an insurance tally with 7:32 remaining in the contest when Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) recorded his team and league-leading 12th goal of the season.

Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) made four saves en route to his fourth straight shutout and fifth of the season for the Penmen.  J.J. Comeau played the first half in goal for New Haven and made four saves, while Jonathan Creem tallied three saves over the final 45 minutes.  Southern New Hampshire outshot the Chargers 15-8.

SNHU steps out of conference for the final time during the regular season when it travels to the University of Bridgeport Wednesday afternoon for a 4:00 contest.
