MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team snapped a six-game winless streak by posting a 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference win over the visiting Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Penmen improve to 5-13 overall and 3-8 in Northeast-10 play, while the loss drops the Purple Knights to 14-14 overall and 3-8 in league play.
Game scores were 25-16, 27-25, 18-25, and 25-23.
Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) led the Penmen with 16 kills, five of which came in the final set. In addition, Coffey tallied a match-high five blocks. Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) added eight kills and a team-high 15 digs for the Penmen. Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) dished out 38 assists for SNHU, while Ashlee Daoust (Brookline, N.H.) and Peyton Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) aided defensively with 14 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Purple Knights were led by Katie Walsh, who totaled 13 kills and 13 digs. Tracy Peterka and Chelsey Covitz both added 11 kills each. Jess McLeod dished out a match-high 46 assists for the Purple Knights, while Courtney Dunne posted a match-high 22 digs.
Saint Michael's hit at .154 through four games, posting a slight advantage over SNHU's .146 hitting percentage.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Friday when it travels to Pace University for a 7:00 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
