MANCHESTER, N.H.—Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) posted a career-high 23 kills to lead the Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team to a 3-1 win over the visiting Hawks of Saint Anselm College on Tuesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action. With the win, the Penmen improve to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in NE-10 play, while the Hawks fall to 4-10 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Game scores were 25-19, 25-17, 18-25, and 25-23.
In addition to Lesczynski, the Penmen were led by Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) who also bested her career high by tallying 19 kills. Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) posted a season-best 49 assists, while Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) posted six blocks for the Penmen's defensive effort. Peyton Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) recorded a match-high 21 digs.
The Hawks were led by Kyla Gustavson, who posted a team-best 10 kills and 10 digs on the day. Lauren Ross added eight kills for the Hawks while also recording three blocks. Natalie Steinwart tallied 30 assists for the Hawks and also served three service aces.
Southern New Hampshire posted a season-high hitting percentage of .257 on the evening including a .364 hitting percentage in the fourth game. The Penmen held the Hawks to an overall hitting percentage of .121.
The Penmen return to action on Saturday when they host a tri-match featuring Dowling and Stonehill. Southern New Hampshire plays at 1:00 p.m. against Stonehill and 5:00 p.m. against Dowling, with a third match between Dowling and Stonehill taking place at 3:00 p.m. The game marks SNHU's annual "Dig Pink" game to promote and raise funds for breast cancer awareness.
