WORCESTER, Mass. – Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) made five saves en route to his third shutout of the season as Southern New Hampshire University blanked Assumption College by a 3-0 score in Northeast-10 men's soccer Saturday afternoon at Multi-Sport Stadium.  The Penmen, who have won six in a row and registered four straight shutouts, improved to 9-2 and 6-2 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds are now 2-5-1 and 2-4-1 in the league.

The win marks career win number 50 for fourth-year SNHU head coach Marc Hubbard.  He owns a career record of 50-12-13 (.753).

Southern New Hampshire got on the board at the 14:34 mark when Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored his Northeast-10-leading ninth goal of the season.  Ruben Resendes (Fall River, Mass.) assisted on the goal.  The Penmen made it 2-0 2:42 later when freshman Chris Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) took a feed from classmate Keegan Campbell (Norton, Mass) for his second goal of the season.  SNHU took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The third Penmen goal came with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game.  A penalty kick attempt by Tsonis was turned away by Greyhound keeper Matt Wrenn, but P.J. Burnette (Brunswick, Maine) collected a ball in the ensuing scramble and fired it home.

Mayo recorded his seventh career shutout as the Penmen outshot the Greyhounds 12-11.  Dylan Strachen started in goal and made one save before giving way to Wrenn at halftime.  Wrenn also made one stop.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday, October 11 when it hosts Bentley University in a 7:00 contest at Larkin Field.
