Volleyball Drops Two in Tri-Match

MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference matchup to Stonehill Conference by a score of 3-1 before falling to Dowling College by the same score.  With today's results, the Penmen fall to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in Northeast-10 Conference action, while Stonehill improves to 17-3 overall and 5-0 in NE-10 play.  Dowling, who also posted a win against Stonehill today, improves to 15-3 overall. 

In the first match of the day between Stonehill and SNHU, Stonehill posted game scores of 25-17, 25-23, 20-25, and 25-21 to take the 3-1 win.  The Penmen were led by Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) who totaled 12 kills for the Penmen.  Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) added 11 kills, while Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) added 10.  Coffey also added five blocks for the Penmen on defense while Peyton Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) posted a team-best 15 digs.  Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) dished out 35 assists. 

Stonehill was led by Laura Huselton and Sydney Maxey, who both tallied 13 kills apiece.  Kirsten Arvidson added 10 kills for the Skyhawks.  Jessica Frankowski posted a match-high 16 digs, while Emily Iverson dished out a match-high 49 assists.  The Skyhawks hit at a .238 hitting percentage on the afternoon while holding the Penmen to a .156 average. 

In the Penmen's second match of the day against Dowling, game scores were 25-22, 25-12, 21-25, and 25-18.  Lesczynski posted a team-best 14 kills for SNHU, while Solomon and Coffey both contributed eight kills apiece.  Coffey also added three blocks on the evening, while Solomon and Williams each tallied a team-high 12 digs.  Mikuta dished out 37 assists for the Penmen.  Ashlee Daoust (Brookline, N.H.) added a match-high four service aces to the Penmen's offensive attack. 

The Dowling Golden Lions were led by Bethany Shepard who totaled 22 kills.  Dragana Jelovac and Chelsea Callahan both added 10 kills apiece.  Morgan Mutranowski posted a match-high 16 kills, while Maja Potpara dished out 41 assists.  Dowling hit at a .282 hitting percentage while holding the Penmen to a .107 hitting percentage. 

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Assumption College for a 7:00 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
