Box Score RINDGE, N.H. – Top-seeded Franklin Pierce University scored four minutes into the second half en route to a 1-0 win over second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University in the East Region final of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship Saturday night at Sodexo Field. The Ravens improve to 21-0-1 and advance to the semifinals of the Division II tournament on December 1 in Pensacola, Fla. The Penmen see their season come to a close at 18-4, with three of those losses coming to Franklin Pierce.
After a scoreless first half, the hosts scored the game's lone goal 3:37 into the second half. Paul Latif, standing in the left corner, served a bending crossing pass into the box that Nicholas Schibly tipped inside the right post past SNHU keeper Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) for his second goal of the season.
Vinny Papageorgiou made two saves en route to the shutout for the Ravens, who have now posted shutouts in all five of their postseason games. Mayo also made a pair of stops for Southern New Hampshire, which outshot Franklin Pierce 5-3 in the second half but was outshot 9-8 for the game.
Southern New Hampshire was making its ninth appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals and its first since 2009.
