Hot-Shooting Bentley Downs Men's Basketball

WALTHAM, Mass. – Jasper Grassa went 7-9 behind the arc and totaled 27 points to lead Bentley University to a 92-76 win over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 men's basketball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.  The Falcons upped their record to 6-2 and 3-2 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 4-3 and 2-3 in the league.

Grassa was 10-14 overall and led four Falcons in double figures.  Dan O'Keefe finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Sam Leclerc and Andrew Shaw each finished with 13 points for Bentley.

BJ Cardarelli (Manchester, Conn.) paced Southern New Hampshire with 19 points and eight rebounds, while fellow freshman Elijah Bonsignore (Felton, Del.) added 17 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Tory Stapleton (Rahway, N.J.) registered 11 points, six rebounds, and a career-high seven assists.

The hosts scored the game's first eight points and opened up a 24-10 lead 6:17 into the game following Grassa's fourth trifecta of the afternoon.  Southern New Hampshire would utilize a 16-2 run capped by a Cardarelli basket at the 9:16 mark to tie the game 26-26.  Bentley countered with a 13-2 run and built a 44-33 lead with 3:22 left before intermission.  The Falcons held a 47-38 lead at the break.

Bentley used a decisive 15-4 run capped by an O'Keefe layup with just over 11 minutes remaining to build a 74-52 lead.  The Falcons led by 25 three times, the latest on a Grassa basket with seven minutes left that made it an 83-58 ball game.

The Falcons were 15-26 (57.7%) behind the arc and shot 54.5% from the floor for the contest, while the Penmen shot 42.5% overall and 42.3% from long range.  Both teams finished with 39 rebounds.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday night when it travels to Stonehill College for a 7:30 Northeast-10 contest.
