Box Score EASTON, Mass. – Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored 3:28 into the second overtime session to lift Southern New Hampshire University to a 2-1 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Stonehill College at Skyhawk Field Tuesday afternoon. The Penmen snapped a two-game slide and improved to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks are now 3-3 and 1-1 in the league.
Tsonis, who scored for the sixth straight game to open the season, headed home a through ball delivered into the box by Chris Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.). It also marked the fourth game-winning goal of the season for the junior.
SNHU took a 1-0 lead with 11:30 left in the first half. Ruben Resendes (Fall River, Mass.) sent a corner kick into the box that was headed home by P.J. Burnette (Brunswick, Maine). The Skyhawks tied the game in the 60th minute when Anthony Campagnano lifted a 22-yard shot towards the goal that glanced off the crossbar and inside the top left corner.
Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) saw his first collegiate action in goal and made a pair of saves en route to the victory. Adam Colella made three saves for Stonehill, which was outshot by Southern New Hampshire 21-11.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Le Moyne College in a 4:00 Northeast-10 contest at Larkin Field.
