MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball narrowly defeated the Hawks of Saint Anselm College on Wednesday evening by a score of 3-1. The Penmen posted game scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-23 to solidify the win, boosting their record to 3-5 overall. The loss snaps the Hawks' three-game winning streak and sets their record to 4-7.
Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) led the Penmen with a team-best 15 kills and 11 digs. Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) added 13 kills and eight digs, while Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) tallied 10 kills and a match-high seven blocks. Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) dished out a match-high 38 assists for SNHU.
Holland McNabb led the Hawks with 11 kills and nine digs. Margaret Tereschuk posted a team-high 12 digs, while Lauren Ross and Kyla Gustavson each tallied seven kills. Natalie Steinwart dished out a team-high 35 assists.
Southern New Hampshire recorded a .146 hitting percentage on the day including a .296 hitting percentage in game three. Saint Anselm posted an overall hitting percentage of .103, including a .333 hitting percentage in game two.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action next Tuesday, September 27 at Franklin Pierce at 7:00 p.m.
