NYACK, N.Y.—The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball program dropped their season opener on the road to Nyack College by a score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The non-conference matchup m marked the first match of the season for both teams. Game scores were 25-19, 25-22, 23, 25, and 25-22.
Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) led the Penmen offensively with 11 kills and finished the day with a .333 kill percentage. She also added eight blocks on the afternoon for the Penmen's defensive effort. Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) aided the Penmen attack with eight kills and added three blocks defensively. Peyton Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) led the Penmen in digs with 17, while Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) posted a match-best 27 assists.
Tawnie Savage posted 13 kills to lead Nyack to the win. Amy Dorvick added nine kills, while Brianna Kane added a team-best four blocks. Savage and Michelle Makela both posted 17 digs, while Kane led Nyack in assists with 20.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Assumption College at 7:30 p.m. in non-conference action at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
