MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Assumption College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at the SNHU Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 0-2 on the season, while the win boosts the visiting Greyhounds to 3-2 overall.
The Penmen dropped the first two games by scores of 25-9 and 25-21 before winning back-to-back games by scores of 28-26 and 25-23. The Greyhounds posted a 15-8 advantage in game five to earn the overall victory.
Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) led the Penmen at the net, registering a match-high 13 blocks and five blocks and Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) added ten kills and 21 digs. Peyton Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) posted a team-best 27 digs, while Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) posted a match-best 37 assists.
Mary Johnston led the Greyhounds with 12 kills, while Ryan Merle wrapped up the day with 10. Kristen Flatekval tallied 36 assists, and Steph Whooten posted a match-high 30 digs for the Greyhounds.
Assumption finished the day with a .099 kill percentage, while SNHU totaled a .058 kill percentage.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Thursday, hosting Merrimack College at 7:00 p.m. in the SNHU Fieldhouse.
