Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H.- The Southern New Hampshire volleyball team lost 3-2 to Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday night. The Penmen are now 9-9 overall and 1-5 in league play while Assumption stands at 10-14 and 4-5 in the conference.
The Penmen dropped the first two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-22, but would rally back to win the next two with set scores of 27-25 and 25-12. The Greyhounds would steal the fifth set by a 15-12 score to defeat the Penmen.
Emma Houlihan (Shoreham, N.Y.) recorded a match-best 20 kills while notching six straight in the third game to force a fourth set. Houlihan also added three blocks to the Penmen defense. Nina McGouldrick (Richardson, Texas) recorded 11 kills on the night, and Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) added a team-best 18 digs. Setter Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) dished out a career-best 50 assists for SNHU.
The Greyhounds were powered by Mary Johnson's 12 kills and Jess Reimers 22 digs. Kristin Flatekval added 38 assists on the night and Lauren Ostafin recorded 12 digs and five kills for Assumption.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, October 20 when they host New Haven in a 7:00 p.m. conference matchup.
