Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored two goals while Andrew Mattarazzo (Agawam, Mass.) tallied a goal and two assists as No. 20 Southern New Hampshire University downed The College of Saint Rose 6-1 in Northeast-10 men's soccer Tuesday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Penmen improved to 13-3 overall and 9-3 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights now stand 1-15 and 1-11 in the league.

For Mattarazzo, it marked his first career points, while Tsonis scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season.  Austin Britt (Massena, N.Y.), Mohamed Toufik (Grande Synthe, France) and Kenny Doublette (Greenwich, Conn.) each had single goals for Southern New Hampshire, while Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) had two assists.

SNHU got on the board just 4:04 into the contest as Tsonis headed in a long throw-in from Mattarazzo from the right side.  Tsonis made it 2-0 in the 14th minute when he took a short pass from Mattarazzo, deked a Saint Rose defender and fired from 12 yards.  Britt made it 3-0 just shy of the game's 30-minute mark when he headed home a left-to-right corner kick by Jonathan Lupinelli (Mont de Marsan, France).

Toufik scored just 30 seconds into the second half when he redirected a shot from 12 yards by Brian Mas (Key Biscayne, Fla.), while Doublette made it 5-0 in the 58th minute when he put home a rebound off a Stezewski shot.  Saint Rose got on the board in the 67th minute when Ercan Kilic registered his first goal of the season off a corner kick by Dylan Klippenstein.  Mattarazzo closed out the scoring at 86:10 when his 30-yard attempt off a pass by Joe Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y.) found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.

Mark Painchaud (Concord, N.H.) made his second start of the season in goal for Southern New Hampshire and made one save, while Golden Knight keeper James Taber turned aside nine shots as the Penmen outshot Saint Rose 21-9.

Prior to the game, five seniors playing in their final regular season home game were honored, Mattarazzo, Tsonis, Jordan Branco (Norton, Mass.), Ruben Resendes (Fall River, Mass.) and Andres Torres (San Jose, Costa Rica).  This year's senior class has posted a 57-14-9 record to date over their four seasons.

Southern New Hampshire wraps up the regular season Friday night when it travels to American International College for a 7:00 contest.
