Penmen Downed by Saint Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. -  The Southern New Hampshire volleyball was downed by The

College of Saint Rose Friday night by a score of 3-2. The Penmen fall to 9-12 and 1-8 in the conference, while the Golden Knights are now 12-8 and 5-4 in league play.

 

SNHU would win the first set by a score of 25-22, but the Golden Knights would fight back to win the second set 26-24. Saint Rose won the third set 25-15, and the Penmen evened up the match while winning the fourth set 26-24. The final set went back and forth until Saint Rose finally took the win 19-17.

 

Emma Houlihan (Shoreham, N.Y.) led the Penmen offense with 22 kills with a .333 hitting percentage in five sets. Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) totaled nine kills and 13 digs on the night, while Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) added 24 digs. Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) tallied a match-best 51 assists for the Penmen.

 

Kelsey Lace posted a double-double for Saint Rose with 12 kills and 12 digs en route to the win. Alex Gagliano added 19 kills offensively, while Katy Daniels recorded 22 digs. Ariana Wilson dished out 35 assists on the night.

 

The Penmen return to action tomorrow, October 24 when they travel to Le Moyne for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 1:00 p.m.
