Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern New Hampshire volleyball team was defeated Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play by Southern Connecticut State University by a score of 3-1. The Penmen are now 9-7 and 1-3 in league play, while the Owls improve to 15-5 and 3-3 in the conference.
The Penmen took the first match from the Owls by a score of 26-24, but Southern Connecticut would win the next three with match scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-17.
Emma Houlihan (Shoreham, N.Y.) totaled a match-high 20 kills on the day to lead the Penmen offense. Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) contributed a double-double with her 11 kills and 20 dig performance. Defensively, Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) added 19 digs, and Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) dished out 35 assists for the Penmen.
Jade Black registered 13 kills and 18 digs to lead the Owl offense, while Vanessa Sullivan and Morgan Carman added 17 and 14 digs, respectively to power the defense. Setter Kimberly Lachowicz totaled a match-best 43 assists while getting the win.
The Penmen return to action Tuesday, October 9 when they travel cross-town to Saint Anselm College for a 7:30 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference match.
