No. 18 Men's Soccer Wins 10th Straight, Blanks Southern Connecticut

Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – A goal by junior Kenny Doublette (Greenwich, Conn.) with just over 14 minutes remaining lifted 18th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University to a 1-0 win over Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 men's soccer Saturday night at Larkin Field.  The Penmen won their 10th straight to improve to 10-1 overall and 8-0 in NE-10 play, while the Owls are 4-4-1 and 4-3-1 in the league.

Doublette scored the game's lone goal with a great individual effort.  Standing on the end line to the right of the Owl goal, he dribbled through a pair of SCSU defenders and fired a low shot that snuck past keeper David Igreja and inside the far left post for his fourth goal of the season.

Senior Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) made one save for Southern New Hampshire en route to his second straight shutout and third of the season, while Igreja turned aside 10 shots as the Penmen outshot the Owls 20-4 on the evening.  The hosts also had seven of the game's eight corner kicks.

Southern New Hampshire hits the road Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Saint Michael's College for a 3:00 NE-10 contest.  The next Penmen home game is Tuesday, October 22, when SNHU welcomes Bentley University for a 7:00 game.
