Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Pierre Omanga (Paris, France) scored twice to lift the No. 20 Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team past American International College Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
The win marks the eighth straight for the Penmen, who improve to 8-1 overall, and 6-0 in league play. American Int'l falls to 3-5-1 overall, and 1-4-1 in the conference.
Omanga put the hosts on the board at the 17:55 mark in the first half when he played a ball from Callum Williams (Ossett, England) and chipped it over the head of the goalie, who came out to challenge him, for his seventh tally of the season.
SNHU held the 1-0 lead through the remainder of the first half, but the Yellow Jackets came up with an equalizer when Ed Sharman capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity in the 64th minute.
The game did not stay knotted up for long, as Omanga scored his second goal of the day in the 66th minute from Miguel Carneiro (New Milford, Conn.). The senior's eighth goal of the season marked his third straight game with multiple goals, as well as his third straight game scoring the game winner.
Kenny Doublette (Greenwich, CT) secured the win in the 70th minute after notching his third goal of the season from Kyle Logan (Shelburne, Vt.).
Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) turned away four shots in net for the Penmen, while SNHU outshot the Yellow Jackets 15-8.
The Penmen return to action Wednesday night when they host Merrimack College in a conference game at 7:00 p.m. on Larkin Field.
