PERFECTION: No. 10 Men's Soccer Completes Unbeaten NE-10 Regular Season, Blanks Saint Rose

Box Score

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior Pierre Omanga (Paris, France) scored twice as No. 10 Southern New Hampshire University completed a perfect Northeast-10 Conference season with a 2-0 men's soccer win over The College of Saint Rose Friday evening at Sullivan Field.  The Penmen won their 15th in a row to wrap up the regular season 15-1 overall and 13-0 in NE-10 play, while the Golden Knights are now 8-9 and 5-8 in the league.

With the win, the Penmen become the first team since the Northeast-10 expanded to a 13-game schedule in 2000 to finish the conference season 13-0-0, and the first league team to finish unbeaten and untied in league play since Saint Anselm College in 1999.  The 15-game win streak is also the second-longest in program history.

After a scoreless first half, Omanga got Southern New Hampshire on the board at the 63:06 mark as he headed home a long right-to-left cross from sophomore Jonathan Lupinelli (Mont de Marsan, France).  Omanga scored his 16th goal of the season and second of the game just past the 80-minute mark as he deked towards the left endline than put a shot in off the near post.

Southern New Hampshire carried play throughout the contest, outshooting the Golden Knights 24-1, including a 16-0 advantage in the first half.  Senior Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) was not forced to make a save en route to his fourth shutout of the season, while Saint Rose keeper Colan Balkwell made eight saves.  The Penmen held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks on the day.

SNHU, as the top seed in the Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Championship, will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, November 5 at 7:00 pm at Larkin Field.  The Penmen will entertain either Saint Rose or Stonehill College, depending on Stonehill's result against Le Moyne Saturday.
