Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sebastian Stezewski's (New Britain, Conn.) goal just past the 10-minute mark lifted Southern New Hampshire University to a 1-0 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Franklin Pierce University Wednesday night at Larkin Field. The Penmen won their third straight to improve to 3-1 and 1-0 in NE-10 play, while the Ravens drop to 1-3 and 0-1 in the league.
The win snapped a six-match winless streak for SNHU against its in-state rival (0-5-1), with the last Penmen victory in the series coming in 2009.
The Penmen scored the lone goal of the game just past the 10-minute mark following a flurry in front of the Raven goal. An initial shot attempt by Christian Rodriguez (Manchester, N.H.) was blocked by an FPU defender, but Stezewski collected the rebound and fired into the far upper right corner for his first collegiate goal.
SNHU keeper Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) went the distance and made three saves en route to the shutout, while Raven counterpart Sam Meza also notched three saves. The Penmen held a 12-9 shot advantage and had all three of the game's corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire hits the road for the first time this season Saturday when it travels to the University of New Haven for a 1:00 contest. The next Penmen home game is slated for Wednesday, September 25, when SNHU entertains Saint Anselm College in a 7:00 game at Larkin Field.
