MANCHESTER, N.H. – Pierre Omanga (Paris, France) scored with 12:33 remaining in regulation to lift seventh-ranked Southern New Hampshire University to a 2-1 men's soccer win over Dowling College Sunday afternoon at Larkin Field. Both teams now stand at 1-1 on the season.
On the eventual game-winner, Omanga took a pass from the top from Christian Rodriguez (Manchester, N.H.) and took a touch to the left of the Golden Lion goal. He shot to the near left post, and his attempt deflected off Dowling keeper Chris Freidl and into the goal for Omanga's first goal in a Penmen uniform.
Southern New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute as it was awarded a penalty kick, which Mohamed Toufik (Grande Synthe, France) converted. The hosts' lead was short-lived, as Sean Collins scored for Dowling 2:35 later following a scramble in front of the Penmen goal. Eric Rosales assisted on the tally, Collins' second of the season.
Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) made one stop in net for Southern New Hampshire, while Friedl notched four saves as the Penmen outshot the Golden Lions 16-8, including a 12-5 advantage in the second half.
SNHU returns to action at home Wednesday night when it hosts Dominican (N.Y.) College in a 6:00 contest at Larkin Field.
