Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Connor Mahoney totaled 18 points to lead Le Moyne College to a 78-68 Northeast-10 men's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon at the SNHU Fieldhouse.  The Dolphins won their fourth in a row to improve to 11-7 and 8-4 in the NE-10, while the Penmen, who saw a five-game win streak snapped, are now 10-7 and 8-6 in the league.

Mahoney knocked down three of his four three-point attempts and also finished 7-8 at the free throw line.  Jim Janson totaled 15 points on 5-8 shooting, while Nate Gause added 13 points off the bench.  Qwadere Lovell totaled 12 points and handed out five assists.

Senior Mike Stys (Hooksett, N.H.) led Southern New Hampshire with 22 points, one shy of his career high, going 6-12 from three-point land and 8-17 overall.  Aleksandar Dobrovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) finished with 18 points and six assists off the bench, while Chris Walters (Stamford, Conn.) added 10 points.

The lead changed four times in the early going before Le Moyne took the lead for good on a Janson layup at the 17:09 mark of the first half.  The Dolphins used a 9-2 run late in the first half to take a 35-26 lead 3:27 before halftime on a basket by Mahoney, and carried a 40-30 lead into intermission.

Le Moyne opened up its largest lead, 51-35, with 15:24 left on a pair of Mahoney free throw, before SNHU scored the game's next eight points, with back-to-back threes by Stys and Adrian Oliveira (Pawtucket, R.I.) cutting the lead to eight, 51-43, at the 13:33 mark.  The Penmen would whittle the lead down to seven, 56-49, on a conventional three-point play by Dobrovic with 10:29 remaining.  SNHU got it down to seven one other time, on a Stys three with 3:20 left that made it 66-59, but the Penmen could not make it a two-possession game the rest of the way.

Le Moyne shot 54.5% for the game and connected on eight of its 15 three-point attempts, while also taking 12 more trips to the free throw line and going 22-28, while the Penmen were just 9-16 at the stripe.  Southern New Hampshire, which was outrebounded 35-22, shot 42.9% from the floor and was 11-30 behind the arc.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday evening when it hosts the University of New Haven in a 7:30 contest at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
