Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team nearly rallied from a 2-0 deficit against Merrimack College for the second time this season, but the Warriors held on for a 3-2 Northeast-10 victory Saturday afternoon at the SNHU Fieldhouse. Merrimack upped its record to 9-4 and 3-2 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 11-6 and 3-2 in the league.
The set scores were 26-24, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18, 16-14.
Merrimack was led by Stephanie Sheehan with a match-high 19 kills to go along with 18 digs. Madison Burke tallied 21 digs, while Tara Stuhr handed out 37 assists.
Megan Salamun (Scottsdale, Ariz.) led four Penmen in double figure kills with 14, hitting .458 for the contest. Emma Houlihan (Shoreham, N.Y.) added 12 kills on .417 hitting, while Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Carolyn Scacchi (Peabody, Mass.) each added 10 kills. Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) handed out 49 assists and contributed 15 digs, while Maeghan Higgins (Hesperia, Calif.) also added 21 digs.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Bentley University for a 7:00 Northeast-10 game at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
