NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University pulled out a 3-2 Northeast-10 women's volleyball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at Pelz Gymnasium Friday afternoon.  The Owls upped their record to 6-13 and 3-5 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 11-8 and 3-4 in the league.

The set scores were 18-25, 25-15, 14-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Southern New Hampshire held a 10-7 lead in the fifth set following a Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) kill before the Owls reeled off four straight points to go up 11-10.  The set was tied 12-12 when a Penmen service error gave serve to the hosts, then back-to-back Kelly Gunneson kills sealed the match.

Gunneson led Southern Connecticut with 14 kills, while Nicole Hauser added 15.  Morgan Carman racked up 14 digs, while Taylor Carson handed out 26 assists and Hauser 20.

Coronis led the Penmen with a match-high 15 kills on .367 hitting.  Nina McGouldrick (Richardson, Texas) finished with eight kills and 14 digs, while Megan Salamun (Scottsdale, Ariz.) hit .467 and added seven kills.  Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) had a team-high 21 digs, while Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) handed out 39 assists and added 10 digs.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday when it travels to American International College for an 11:00 am match.
