Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University swept a Northeast-10 women's volleyball match from host American International College by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 Saturday morning at Butova Gymnasium. The Penmen, who snapped a three-game slide with the victory, improve to 12-8 and 4-4 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets are now 5-18 and 1-8 in the league.
SNHU's 12 wins matches last season, a season which saw the Penmen go 12-12 and record their most victories since the 2006 season.
Freshman Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) finished with 12 kills and four block assists, hitting at a .625 clip. Megan Salamun (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Carolyn Scacchi (Peabody, Mass.) each finished with six kills, with Schurman adding nine digs. Maeghan Higgins (Hesperia, Calif.) tallied 13 digs, while Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) handed out 30 assists to go along with eight digs.
Three players led American International with six kills apiece, while Franny Sanchez recorded 15 digs and Cherry Baylon handed out 17 assists.
Southern New Hampshire is idle until next Friday when it hosts Pace University in a 7:00 contest at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
