Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Jose Seoane (A Coruna, Spain) scored twice as No. 1 Southern New Hampshire University topped American International College 4-1 in Northeast-10 men's soccer Friday night at Abdow Field. The Penmen remained unbeaten, upping their record to 9-0 (6-0 NE-10), while the Yellow Jackets fall to 6-4 and 3-3 in the league.
The win extends SNHU's unbeaten streak to 32 games dating back to last season, while the Penmen have won 27 consecutive Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament contests in a row.
AIC found itself down a man in the 32nd minute as the Yellow Jackets were given a red card. Seoane had a pair of goals in the first half to give the Penmen a 2-0 lead at intermission. His ninth of the season came at the 34:31 mark as he collected a turnover and fired from 30 yards. Just over five minutes later, Seoane took a pass from Yannick Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) and beat Yellow Jacket keeper Sebastian Tamayo low for goal number 10 on the season.
Southern New Hampshire extended its lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute when Brian Grisell (Brookfield, Conn.) scored his third goal of the season. American International ended the shutout bid just past the 70-minute mark when Sam Jepson scored his first goal of the season.
Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) closed out the scoring in the 77th minute when he took a pass from the right side from Grisell and found himself all alone in front with AIC relief keeper Dante Raggio and fired past him for his fifth goal of the season.
Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) played the first 83 minutes in goal for SNHU and made a pair of saves before giving way to Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.), who was not forced to make a save. Tamayo made three saves in 57 minutes before being replaced by Raggio, who recorded one stop.
Southern New Hampshire outshot the Yellow Jackets 20-7 on the evening, while the Penmen took 12 of the game's 14 corner kicks.
SNHU returns to action Wednesday night when it plays the first of two straight nationally-ranked opponents on the road, facing Merrimack College in a 7:00 contest.
