Box Score

MANCHESTER N.H. – Top-ranked Southern New Hampshire University scored four times in the first 13 minutes and opened up a 6-0 halftime lead en route to a 6-2 non-conference men's soccer victory Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Penmen upped their record to 3-0, while the Mavericks are 0-4 on the season.

SNHU is now unbeaten in its last 26 games and has won 16 in a row at home.

Jose Seoane (A Coruna, Spain) scored twice, while Sofiane Tergou (Bitche, France) recorded a goal and two assists.  Kenny Doublette (Port-au-Prince, Haiti), Orri Gustafson (Akureyri, Iceland) and Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) each recorded single goals.

Tergou got the Penmen on the board just 1:14 into the match when he took a long pass up the middle from Callum Williams (Ossett, England) and found himself alone with Mercy keeper Luis Lizarzaburu and one-timed it for his first goal of the season.  Doublette made it 2-0 at the 4:32 mark when he collected a pass in the box, deked a defender, and snuck it inside the near left post.

Seoane scored back-to-back goals in the eighth and 13th minutes for his third and fourth goals of the season to make it 4-0.  Gustafson knocked home a long right-to-left cross in the 23rd minutes, while Stezewski headed home a header pass from Ryan Reynolds (Springfield, Mass.), with Brian Grisell (Brookfield, Conn.) also recording an assist on the play.

Alex Cruz spoiled SNHU's shutout bid in the 78th minute, while Andrew Levy tallied a goal to make it 6-2 just past the 84-minute mark.

Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) played the first half in goal for Southern New Hampshire and made one save.  Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) and Myles Groenloh (Gevelsberg, Germany) split the second half in goal for SNHU.  Lizarzaburu made five saves in the first half before giving way to Kieran Moran, who stopped the lone shot he faced.  The Penmen outshot the Mavericks 25-9 and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

Southern New Hampshire opens Northeast-10 play Wednesday night when it travels to Franklin Pierce University for a 7:00 contest.
