Box Score 2 NYACK, N.Y. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team was victorious in both ends of a tri-match hosted by Nyack College on Saturday. The Penmen recorded a 3-2 win over Philadelphia University in the opener, before blanking the host Warriors 3-0 in the nightcap. SNHU extended its win streak to six games and is now 10-4 overall, while the Rams are 4-8 and Nyack 0-17.
Against Philadelphia, the set scores were 30-28, 23-25, 26-24, 24-26, 15-8. The Penmen prevailed by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-9 against the Warriors.
Emma Houlihan (Shoreham, N.Y.) led the Penmen with 14 kills and three blocks in the opener, while Nina McGouldrick (Richardson, Texas) recorded 10 kills and eight digs. Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) and Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) added eight kills apiece, with Schurman also notching 10 digs. Maeghan Higgins (Hesperia, Calif.) and Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) registered 22 and 13 digs, respectively, while Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) handed out 41 assists.
Houlihan and Megan Salamun (Scottsdale, Ariz.) each recorded 10 kills in the nightcap, with Schurman and Carolyn Scacchi (Peabody, Mass.) each notching seven. Higgins led the Penmen with 13 digs, while Cotton handed out 32 assists.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday night when it travels to Stonehill College for a 7:00 Northeast-10 contest.
