Box Score 2 LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball split a pair of matches on Sunday, defeating Georgian Court University by a 3-1 score before getting edged 3-2 by Roberts Wesleyan College. The Penmen are 3-2 on the season.
Against the host Lions, the Penmen prevailed 25-17, 22-25, 25-21 25-20. Freshman Carolyn Scacchi (Peabody, Mass.) led the Penmen with 12 kills, while Emma Houlihan (Shoreham, N.Y.) finished with nine kills and a .571 hitting percentage. Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) handed out 40 assists, while Maeghan Higgins (Hesperia, Calif.) and Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) each tallied 11 digs.
In the second match of the day, the Redhawks prevailed by a score of 25-22, 15-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-10. Megan Salamun (Scottsdale, Ariz.) led the way for Southern New Hampshire with 13 kills and a .524 hitting percentage, while freshman Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) added 10 kills. Cotton notched 45 assists, while Higgins finished with a team-high 16 digs. Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) added 12 digs, while Nina McGouldrick (Richardson, Texas) finished with 10 digs and eight kills.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday night when it hosts Saint Anselm College for its home opener in a 7:00 non-league match at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
