Third-ranked Southern New Hampshire moved to 10-0 with a 2-1 men's soccer victory over the University of New Haven on the road Saturday afternoon.
Sofiane Tergou (Bitche, France) gave the Penmen a 1-0 lead just 3:25 into the game, putting home a through ball from Orri Gustafsson (Akureyri, Iceland) for his fourth goal on the season. Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) made it 2-0 20 seconds after halftime off a feed from Gustafsson.
New Haven ended SNHU's shutout bid with 1:15 left when Evans Kussi scored off a feed from Matt Dillon.
Nick Zucco (Ludlow, Mass.) stopped three shots in goal for the Penmen, while Charger counterpart Stephen Sasso made 12 saves as the Penmen outshot New Haven 37-6.
Notes:
- SNHU's 10-0 start is its best since 1988 when the Penmen won their first 22 games.
- The Penmen remain one of three unbeaten and untied teams nationally, along with Lander and Pfeiffer.
- Southern New Hampshire entered the game leading the nation in team GAA (0.33).
