A pair of second half goals from Michael Rowley (Cooperstown, N.H.) pushed the No. 5 Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team past Stonehill Wednesday afternoon as the Penmen remained unbeaten.
After a scoreless first half, Rowley got the Penmen on the board just over five minutes into the second half when he one-timed a pass from Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) on the left side of the box. Just over 12 minutes later, an initial shot by Ryan Reynolds (Springfield, Mass.) was stopped by Stonehill keeper Luke Besse, but Rowley collected the rebound and finished high for his third goal of the season.
Nick Zucco (Ludlow, Mass.) notched his fourth shutout of the season in goal for Southern New Hampshire, making five stops, while Besse turned aside six Penmen shots.
Notes:
- The Penmen outshot the Skyhawks 17-10, including an 11-5 advantage after halftime.
- Eight of SNHU's 13 goals this season have come in the second half.
- Dating back to last season, SNHU is unbeaten in its last 11 games (10-0-1).
