Sofiane Tergou (Bitche, France) notched a goal and an assist as the Southern New Hampshire men's soccer team, ranked No. 7 in the preseason NSCAA Division II poll, opened 2015 with a 3-0 win over Chestnut Hill Sunday.
Tergou scored the lone goal of the first half when the Penmen were awarded a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, which he put past Chestnut Hill keeper James Jackson. The game remained 1-0 until the 68:38 mark when Michael Rowley (Cooperstown, N.Y.) headed home a long cross off the foot of Jonathan Lupinelli (Mont de Marsan, France).
Just under four minutes later, Dominic Samuel (Toronto, Ontario) made it 3-0 when he headed in a corner kick by Tergou.
Nick Zucco (Ludlow, Mass.) made a pair of saves for the shutout, while Jackson recorded eight stops.
Notes:
- Southern New Hampshire held a commanding 31-5 shot advantage on the afternoon.
- Lupinelli's assist is the 26th of his career, moving him into a tie for seventh place in program history.
- The Penmen took nine of the game's 10 corner kicks.
- The win was the first for first-year head coach Josh Taylor, who had spent seven years as an assistant with the program before being promoted in April.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts Post University in a 7:30 contest at Larkin Field.
