Seniors Victoria Wehrmann (Dallas, Texas) and Megan Salamun (Scottsdale, Ariz.) recorded 11 and 10 kills, respectively, to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory (28-26, 25-23, 25-18) against conference-unbeaten Bentley University on Tuesday evening at the SNHU Fieldhouse.

Bentley looked like it would hold on to the top spot in the Northeast-10 standings at the beginning of the night as it jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set. Three kills from junior Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) powered a 9-2 counter-run, however, that put the Penmen in front, 9-7. The Falcons would later use a 5-0 spurt to turn a one-point deficit into a four-point lead, but Southern New Hampshire would not go away as four straight points, including a pair of kills from freshman Amanda Costales (Wantagh, N.Y.), knotted the set at 23-all.

Bentley had set-point at 24-23, while SNHU pushed the Falcons to the brink twice afterward, but could not close. Tied at 26, however, kills from Salamun and freshman Jaclyn Maguire (Rochester, N.Y.) put the Penmen up, 1-0, in the match.

The visitors again jumped out to an early lead in set No. 2 at 8-2, but six straight points later on, including four kills from Wehrmann, tied the set at 12. The Penmen trailed by one when a 10-3 rush, featuring two kills from junior Carolyn Scacchi (Peabody, Mass.), as well as a kill and a service ace from Coronis, catapulted Southern New Hampshire into the lead at 23-17. Bentley would later close to within 24-23, but an attack error gave SNHU a commanding 2-0 advantage.

Two Salamun kills helped stake the Penmen to a 6-2 lead in the third set. After Bentley closed to within two, a pair of service aces from freshman Joanne Coffey (Merrimack, N.H.) highlighted an 8-1 run that broke open a 16-7 advantage for Southern New Hampshire. SNHU later used an 8-3 run – with a kill and a service ace from Salamun – to grab a 24-13 lead. Bentley reeled off five straight points before a Wehrmann kill clinched the match.

Salamun added seven digs and two service aces to her 10 kills. Coronis registered eight kills, 14 digs and a pair of service aces, while Coffey scored a double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs, to go along with four service aces. Junior Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) collected 18 digs, with sophomore Shaira Sanabria (Tampa, Fla.) tallying 10. Costales and Scacchi each chipped in five kills.

Notes:
-The win snaps Bentley's six-match winning streak and is the Falcons' first loss to an NE-10 team in eight matches.
-Southern New Hampshire outhit Bentley in the first and third sets, as well as .166-.155 for the match.
-Coffey's double-double was her ninth of the season.
