Senior Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) tallied 10 kills, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team was swept, 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-13), Saturday afternoon by Pace University at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

With the first set tied, 3-3, Pace ripped off an 11-1 run that gave it a commanding 14-4 advantage, before an 8-4 counter-run from Southern New Hampshire – with a kill and service ace from Coronis – trimmed its deficit to 18-12. Trailing, 23-14, later in the set, a 6-1, spurt pulled the Penmen within 24-20, but an error halted the comeback and gave Pace a 1-0 lead.

The Setters maintained momentum in the second set, jumping out to a 5-0 lead before a 7-2 run, which featured three kills from Coronis, tied the match at 7-all. Pace answered with an 11-3 blitz that opened up an 18-10 advantage for the hosts. A kill from junior Priscila Castro (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) would stop the bleeding, but that was as close as Southern New Hampshire would get the rest of the way, as Pace would take the set, 25-15, to grab a 2-0 lead in the match.

Set No. 3 was knotted at four when a 6-1 run from Pace gave it a 10-5 advantage. SNHU would tally four of the next six points, but the Setters would cap the set and the match on a 13-4 run.

Castro posted six kills and 12 digs, while sophomore Amanda Costales (Wantagh, N.Y.) also recorded six kills. Sophomore Joanne Coffey (Merrimack, N.H.) notched a double-double with 17 assists and 12 digs, with senior Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) collecting 19 digs. Junior Jessica Dillon (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) chimed in with four kills, five assists and six digs. Senior Carolyn Scacchi (Peabody, Mass.) also added four kills.
